Common Questions


How do I create an account?
At the top of the page next to the search bar, click “Create an Account.” You will be prompted to fill in your name, email address, a preferred username, and a password. Then, fill in the words displayed in the reCaptcha, and click “Next.”

You are now in Your Garage, a part of the AltRider site where you can create a profile that will be shared with other riders.  Fill in the blanks, upload a picture of yourself, and click the boxes that best describe your riding preferences. Then click the green button at the bottom that says “Save Info.”

You’re done!

Where is my account?
If you’ve already created an account (see above if you haven’t), you can access it from anywhere on the site by clicking on “Your Garage.” It’s located next to the search bar at the top of every page.

How can I check on my AltRider order?
Log in or click “Your Garage,” which appears next to the search bar at the top of every page. You should now be on the “public profile” tab of your garage. Click the “account info” tab. On the right-hand side of your screen, your order history should be visible. If it is not, you can contact us by calling +1 (206) 922-3618.

How can I post a picture of myself?
Log in or click “Your Garage” (if you are already logged in), which appears next to the search bar at the top of every page. You should now be on the “public profile” tab of your garage. Click the “Edit Info” button toward the bottom of your page. Now, click the “Browse” button across from the words “Profile Photo.” A window will pop up, allowing you to choose the image you want from your computer. Click “Open,” and then after that window closes, click the green “Save Info” button at the bottom of your screen. You should see your new profile picture on your public profile and next to any comments or reviews you leave.

How do I use the Rider Locator?
First, log in, then click the “Community” tab at the top of the page. On your left, click “Rider Locator” in the green sidebar. Now type in your zip code, and click the boxes that best describe how far away you’re willing to look for riding buddies and what kind of riding you plan to do. (HINT: if you’re looking for just anyone to ride with, choose “any distance” and click all the boxes)
When the information has all been filled in, click the green “Filter” button.  All the AltRider members who match your criteria will show up in the results.

How do I organize a ride?
First, click the “Community” tab at the top of the page. On your left, click “Rides” in the green sidebar. On the new page, there should be a green button below the sidebar on the left that says, “Create Ride” – click it.
Fill in the name of your ride, where it will start, and choose the dates and maximum number of attendees. You can upload a photo if you’d like, but you will need to provide a description of the ride, as well as contact information.   You have to fill in all required fields, otherwise the process will not work.

NOTE: Your email address and phone number will only be viewable by people who RSVP to the event.

Click the green “Next” button, and you will have the option of inviting AltRider members or emailing friends to join you.   Note, when you enter individual email addresses you need to click, “add another email address.”  Enjoy the ride!


How do I submit an entry to the Photo Challenge?

Click the “Community” tab at the top of the page. Next, click “Photo Challenge” on the green sidebar on the left. Click on the image on the top of the page that explains the next challenge.  From here, you will be prompted to fill in your name as you’d like it to appear and a brief description or story behind your photograph. Then, click the “Browse” button, and a window should pop up that allows you to find the image on your computer. Click on the image name, click “Open,” and then the “Submit Photo” button.
