The BMW F800GS should function on both dirt roads and asphalt roads, for both off-road riding that’s a bit rougher, and comfortable cruising along the main highways. Öhlins USA has developed a Rear Shock which is a extreme duty, remote reservoir shock, and the front 25mm NIX drop in fork cartridge kit to satisfy the true enthusiasts demands.
Like all shocks from Öhlins, those developed for F800GS are based on advanced technology, special materials and careful testing. F800GS suspension is based technically on rough offroad and enduro with all that is involved in terms of handling extreme pressures over a long period. However, they differ from them primarily in that they are tested and optimally adjusted so that they also have great comfort and safety when riding on asphalt. By improving the performance of these products, they are therefore able to handle forest trails, dirt roads and surfaced public highways.
The suspension for the F800GS is tailor-made that is why all Ohlins suspension prodcuts we sell require the rider to complete an AltRider/Ohlins rider profile. We have worked with Ohlins USA, riding and testing with several valving changes and bottoming resistance changes in search of the perfect range of comfort, stability and balance, both off-road and on surfaced roads.
Due to the fact that the F800GS has to deal with such widely varying areas of use, we have naturally fitted the shocks and forks for these motorcycles with a very broad range of adjustments. The forks have Compression, Rebound and Spring preload Adjustability as do the Rear shock.
