AltRider Crash Bars for the Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin Adventure Sports
Fits Adventure Sports model, requires removal of OEM light bar and lower bars require removal of OEM skid plate.
Honda put the new Africa Twin in the CRF category for a reason. Like the popular dirt bikes that share its nomenclature, this bike was made to not only handle the tough stuff, but to excel in it. Protect your CRF1000L Africa Twin with a set of AltRider Crash Bars, and venture confidently into the unknown.
Why a 3-Part System? We designed this system to be modular so that different types of riders could choose their level of protection. Some riders may be headed for a major off-road adventure, where the Full Crash Bar System will provide the most comprehensive solution. Others may not want the entire “roll-cage” type system, opting instead for just the Lower or Upper Bars. Some people may also choose to start with the Lower Crash Bars and add the other pieces over time. Whatever category you fall into, AltRider has a Crash Bar solution for you.
Lower Crash Bars The 3-part system starts with the Lower Crash Bars. Knowing the engine cases are the most exposed in all tip-overs, we designed these for maximum strength so that these alone will provide substantial protection to the bike’s engine and vulnerable castings. The Lower Bars are constructed of 1.25 inch (31.75 mm) diameter steel, which is twice as strong as 1 inch (25.4 mm) diameter steel while only adding 10% of the weight. This allows for a compact design that will function under impact while not interfering with the rider.
Upper Crash Bars The 1 inch (25.4 mm) Upper Crash Bars add another dimension of protection, providing coverage to the bike’s radiator and plastics. Upper Bars are more important on the tall and skinny Africa Twin than on many other bikes, as a simple tip over could result in substantial damage to these pieces.
Reinforcement Bar The 1 inch (25.4 mm) Reinforcement Bar ties the Lower and Upper Bars together, increasing the strength of the overall system. This design allows for even large impacts to be distributed throughout the entire system, minimizing damage to the bike’s engine, frame and other vital components.
All pieces in the system are made of high quality stainless steel in the USA. Select a configuration at the right for additional information on individual components.
Configuration notes: save when you buy the Upper & Lower Bars Combo, and save even more when you buy the Full System (compared to purchasing each piece separately). If you are ordering only the Upper or Lower and it’s your first piece, you’ll need to order with the installation bracket. If you already have the Upper or Lower and are ordering the other piece, you can order without the bracket.

nice crash bars
these bars look very nice on the bike. We had a slight fitment issue by the foot peg bracket. Loosening bolts did not help, but the tech shaved off a little so it does not rub. The bars also needed a good cleaning but look great now.

The right stuff with a catch
These reinforcement bars are great. They're made very well and I have no doubt they will improve the overall crash protect significantly. Here is the catch. The assembly instructions say nothing about which bar goes on which side. Although they will only mount one way, it would save time if the instruction were more concise on which pieces went where.
There are two sets of smaller attachment clamps that mount to the upper crash bar and two sets of larger clamps that mount to the lower crash bar. The reinforcement bars have two different size tabs that will only mate with the correlating attachment clamp. Once you have determined this, the rest is easy.

Honda ATAS Crash Bars are the BEST in the Market!
After looking at reviews of many different brands from Europe, Canada and the USA, I decided to purchase AltRider's Crash bar system and skid plate for my 2018 Honda ATAS. On YouTube, I saw a few negative reviews about other brands but not a single one for AltRider's crash bar system. I saw lots of positive reviews for them so I purchased them in September of 2018 and I'm writing my review after 6 months of use.
I have dropped my bike about 14 times on gravel, rocky trials and grass because I take my bike off-road a lot. I am extremely pleased to advise you that they are strong and reliable. I have no damage to my motorcycle except the numerous minor scratches on the crash protection kit which is expected from a drop. I have developed more confidence offroad because I know that even if I drop my bike, the crash protection will do its job! The integrity of the crash bar system is clearly intact even after 14 drops with only scratches apparent. I have purchased about $6K worth of accessories for my bike and the crash bar system with skid plate has been the most expensive investment BUT by far the BEST and most important investment. The skid plate is very large and thick so it protects the bike when I hit the rocks. Most of my accessories are AltRider because they make quality lasting products. They also look the best but more importantly they are the most robust. No one else in the industry gives you 2 inch tubes for the engine protection. Amazing products I love raving about to other adventure riders.
I also keep coming back to AltRider because of their exceptional customer service. I have spoken to Lyndell about 3 times with questions about my various orders since September 2018. I also spoke to her today because I needed some parts. I have always received professional and kind responses from Lyndell. I always look forward to calling Lyndell because I know I can count on her for amazing service. Keep up the great work AltRider.

Bomb Proof!
I also installed the AltRider Lower Crash Bars on my AT AS and all I can say is these are super burley! The Upper and Lower Bars fit together so well, they appear to be one piece. The welds are perfect, unlike some other brands I have seen. If you are planning to ride off-road, this system will give you piece of mind - and they just look great!

Perfect Fit!
I just installed the new AltRider Upper Crash Bars on my Africa Twin Adventure Sports and they look great! Just looking at them, it is obvious they will actually protect my bike way better than the OEM "light bars." This is an investment, but I believe it is well worth it!
