Your big BMW engine commands respect off road and on, but you can help it retain that dignity by providing it with a side stand foot that reflects its size. The AltRider Side Stand Foot for the BMW R 1200 & R 1250 GS Adventure provides your bike with a larger footprint, so it can easily keep it from sinking into hot pavement or losing its balance on soft, uneven terrain such as dirt or gravel roads.

After seeing many imitations of our previous designs, AltRider has taken our side stand foot design to the next level. The highlighted logo was strategically designed to keep weight down by removing unnecessary material from the bottom plate. Keeping the weight of the side stand foot down is critical because any added weight to your side stand can lead to the side stand dropping during a ride. If a side stand drops while the bike is in motion, it can deploy the side stand switch guard, cutting the engine without warning and lead to a potential crash.

Made from hefty 1/8 inch (3.18 mm) stainless steel, this foot features a 3D tread that echoes the aggressive AltRider Radiator Guard design, while providing traction for your boots. It is the most ergonomic design on the market, allowing easy deployment of the side stand while still on the bike. The AltRider foot also clamps down on the actual foot of the side stand with Torx fasteners, which means the piece will remain tight even after months of use. No more rattling or stripped fasteners!

Really nice product

I installed this tonight, and it's a very well made foot enlarger, MUCH better than my previous Touratech version. The five bolts are very snug against/around the foot which helps with the assembly staying very tight over time. My only gripe...... the bottom plate should be a little thicker, allowing the bolts to bite a little better before being fully tightened. Two of the five bolts would barely bite regardless of how loose the other three were. Slightly longer bolts simply stick through the bottom plate(no good). The fifth bolt easily stripped as I was trying to snug it down - it only has 1.5-2 threads engaged before the pressure caused it to fail. If it stays tight over time I'll be very happy, as every other enlarger on every other bike I've had has loosened over and over again. I used the 6mm riser with the longer supplied bolts. The stripped hardware is very disappointing.

Side Stand Enlarger

Great high quality product! AltRider really takes their machining work seriously. Purchased this side stand enlarger the other day and it goes on easy, 1 -2 minute install. It's design fits the rugged look of the bike perfectly!

AltRider...Side Stand Foot Enlarger done right

My 2014 GSAW arrived in April and shares the garage with a 2004 GSA. Experience with my '04 told me that one of the first additions needed to be a side stand foot enlarger. An enlarger is cheap insurance to compensate for the tiny appendage that comes with the '14 GSA. When I first got the '04 I started with the piece of metal on a string and ended up with a DYI solution. However for the '14GSA I wanted something a little more polished. Also, by the time I factored in my time, on the DIY route, I knew I'd more than pay for a fabricated foot. As I looked at side stand foot enlargers I considered and communicated with the Wunderlich, Touratech, Illium, and AltRider. In the end it was AltRider. The decision was a matter of function, fit, and design. I liked that AltRider had the choice of a black or natural finish and it's just a better design. With the shape, it's easy to put the side stand down with my Sidi's. The fit and attachment are without flaw. It works so well to deploy the stand I may soon be performing side stand pegectomy. It significantly expands the footprint of the side stand pad without getting in the way when riding. The instructions are clear but it's one of those things you don't need instructions for anyway. I also like that the bolts are torx and AltRider includes a small vial of thread lock. Nice touch. If you're in the marked for a skid plate check out AltRider skid plate for the 2014 GSA. This is the one you want.
