We went thicker than most and hand-TIG-welded the plate and did not stamp it or MIG-welded it like the cheap stuff. Detailed Description

We're GS riders too, and we knew the stock skid plate wasn't enough for serious adventure riding. Even a sidewalk can mean rough contact with the ground and can damage the engine housing. While others cut corners with engine-mounted designs, we spent countless hours developing our patent-pending mounting system. By anchoring to the frame with 3/16" stainless steel brackets and our custom-machined center stand fasteners, we've created the most stable engine protection system available.

 The proof is in the details: The AltRider skid plate is the only design on the market that doesn’t rely on the engine as a mounting point. Plus, our strategic mounting system keeps the mounts as far out to the edges to avoid twisting the plate on impact.

After brutally testing it in various environments, we've eliminated the common failure points found in other designs, like cheap fasteners, thin rear brackets or complicated mounting systems that can fail when you need them most.  When the other systems fail, the sub-bracket folds up and a sharp laser edge can create a concentrated pressure point.
