New Way to Pack

Sep 15, 2011 // The AltRider Garage //

One of the most common questions we’ve heard the last year and a half is, “Where’s your luggage rack for the BMW R 1200 GS?” Our answer has always been, “We’re working on it.”

Not anymore. Now we can say, “It's online – so check it out!”

AltRider Luggage Rack System for the BMW R 1200 GS

You may be wondering why it took us a year and a half to get this part into production. That’s a good question. We knew our luggage rack system would be popular, but we wanted to wait until we had the design and functionality just right before releasing it into the wild.

Our lead project engineer, Jacob, says he was excited about the opportunity to make something completely different than what was already on the market.  “Our challenge was to build the functionality into it that it could serve as many riding styles as possible,” he explained. “Every rider’s needs are very different – trying to accommodate different riding styles was a big reason we included such versatility.”

The AltRider Luggage Rack System for the BMW R 1200 GS can be mounted in five different configurations. Unlike with other systems currently available, you don’t have to know before you buy how you plan to pack for all your trips from now until eternity. Our system allows you to change your mind.

Check out the video to see the different ways you can mount the luggage racks, the many ways you can mount top cases or Rotopax, and how to use the racks to get interesting video footage on your next ride.

3 and counting...

I've been waiting for this. But from the description it seems I'll have to put my seat in the "low position" to use it. Surely this can't be true. I'm 6foot 3. Riding with seat in low position is not an option. Does this mean I can't use it? Or did you mean that only if using the rotopax 1 gallon aux tank on the forward mounting plate you need to use the low position.
