AltRider Crash Bars for the Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z
Now that you’re the proud owner of a Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z – or maybe have one on order – you want crash bars to protect it. Ours are built from one inch stainless steel so they're extremely resistant to rust, and feature beautiful hand TIG welds.
In designing these crash bars, we went through the trouble of maintaining the hidden connector in the front to yield a seamless system. Why is that important? It means the energy of a hard impact on one side can be transferred throughout the bars and to the other side. The three mounts on one side don’t have to take an entire impact load; instead, it is distributed across six mount mounts so none of them are overwhelmed. All of this is important because the crash bars will not only protect the fairing in the case of a crash, but also the Super Tenere’s exposed radiator.
We also conducted a thorough study to identify the bike’s contact points when on its side. This led to a crash bar design that offers a wide contact area between the crash bars and the ground. The other contact points will be the handlebar bar ends, and rear passenger peg – protecting the fairing, engine, radiator, and brake and shifter lever.
The crash bars allow full removal of the right-hand side panel. Because the left-hand side panel only requires periodic removal, the bars were not designed to allow removal of the panel. However, the left-hand side panel can be loosened enough to access to the hardware holding the gas tank in place – allowing the tank to be lifted up to gain access to the air box.

Awesome protection. I took a mean spill and the crash bars did what they were suppose to do, PROTECT THE MOTORCYCYLE! The bars got scratched but no damage to the plastic side plate that covers the radiator. I took the crash bars off and repainted them, they look good as new.
GREAT PRODUCT!

Look good, but pain to install
All of the pictures to assemble the bar were too black and dark to see what was to be done where! Someone please take some color photos and provide them with the installation steps.
I gave the 4 stars due to the instruction set of pics were horrible!

Tenere VS. Tree
Attempting to loft the front wheel over a downed tree.... the rear wheel caught and sent me flying off the trail. Front wheel off the ground I collided with a tree. The right side guard bent, but kept the battery/electronics compartment from becoming a collection of broken plastic bits. These engine guards saved my bacon @ March Moto Madness 2015.

Awesome Protection, Well MAde, Look Great!
I give thumbs up to the engineers who designed the Altrider Crash Bars. The bars are well made, tough, durable and make the bike look mean. Great protection. This is a must for any adventure touring motorcycle. Doesn't stick out too far to where it would hender the rider the opportunity to split lanes or ride between a narrow tunnel of trees or bushes.
Thank you Altrider!

Seriously though, these bars fit great, look fantastic and most importantly provide stout protection. So far I've only had mine on its side in a grassy field, but I have seen plenty of evidence of the protection these bars offer. In the Tenere Group I belong to, these bars are pretty much universally used.

Best on the market!
This cage is solid! One installation tip: When you remove the "Plastic OEM Guards" hold on to one of the long bolts. I found the short bolts, provided with the bars, exremely difficult to get started when mounting the side bars. Use the long bolt to pull the bars into the mounting bracket, then insert the shorter provided bolt in the second hole. Replace the long bolt with the second short bolt. Do the same for the right side. It will save your marriage if the wife is helping you.

Best dollar spent
I've crashed the S10 on a gravel road. This weekend, I hit a sapling underwater at speed and splashed it down pretty good. Earlier this weekend, I laid it down in some clay washout with gravel mixed in as I went up a hill. I was stuck and spun the bike around on the crash bar. The power coating gets scratched but the important element remains unchanged. These haven't deformed or even dented and the bike is still in very good shape. This is hands down the very best investment anyone can make once you leave the showroom. Excellent build quality and exceptional design.

Install was very easy. One person is very doable.
While I do not want to test the out, it is clear that when I do they will be up to the task.

What more could you want? If these things don't hold up to a spill, I don't know what else would. Keep up the good work guys & gals.

2012 XT1200Z crash bars - thumbs UP!
Let me say, these are 1 day old and never been tried, but they are STOUT, good looking, in perfect condition and went on EASY.
NICE product & give the impression of being up to the task should they be tested. Craftmanship appears top shelf, with excellent welds.
Mine are black & look great with new 2012 US XT1200Z model in Yam blue.
I am looking forward to my bash plate & will be good to go.
