INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
AltRider.com values its customers and takes the matter of protecting your privacy very seriously. We collect customer information in an effort to improve your shopping experience and to communicate with you about our products, services, events and promotions. We use the information we collect to create a better, more personalized experience based on your individual usage habits, to improve our marketing and promotional efforts, analyze site usage, develop our content and product offerings, and to customize our site’s content, layout and services. AltRider, LLC is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. Under no circumstances do we sell, share, or rent this information to third parties. For the purposes of this policy, “Personal Identifiable Information” means information that could be used to identify you personally (such as your email address or IP address), which has not been previously or subsequently disclosed by you on the public areas of our website. We gather two types of information about our users.
- 1. Information users provide through voluntary submissions. These are voluntary submissions to register as members, place orders, receive our electronic newsletters, participate in our message boards, contests, events, surveys, and to email a friend.
Member Registration
Users may choose to create an account at AltRider.com in order to receive a better and more personalized experience on our site, and take full advantage of products and services offered by AltRider. During registration, we collect the following information: a nickname selected by you, your full legal name, your email address, a password selected by you, and your mailing address. Additionally, members can choose to create a short description or statement, include information about their riding preferences to be viewed by other members, and give permission to be contacted by other site users for invitations on rides and related events.
Order
We request information from the user on our order form. Here, a user must provide contact information (such as name and shipping address) and financial information (such as credit card number and expiration date). This information is used for billing purposes and to fill the customer’s orders. If we have trouble processing an order, this contact information will be used to get in touch with the user. Electronic Newsletters We offer a free electronic newsletter to users. AltRider gathers the name and email address of users who voluntarily subscribe. Users may remove themselves from this mailing list by following the link provided in every newsletter.
“Email this to a friend” Service
Our site users can choose to electronically forward a link, page, or documents to someone else by clicking “email this to a friend.” The user must provide their email address, as well as the name and email of a recipient. This information is used only in the case of transmission errors and to let the recipient know who sent this email. We will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the site. We store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email. The friend may contact AltRider at info@altrider.com to request the removal of this information from our database.
Surveys
AltRider may occasionally conduct user surveys to better target our content to our audience and improve the use and satisfaction of this site. Surveys are voluntary, and users may opt out of participating. Information collected about specific individuals is never shared with any third party.
Contests and Challenges
AltRider conducts occasional contests and/or challenges offering users an opportunity to submit content such as photos, stories, blog entrees, and designs to AltRider. Participation in these contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes.
- We automatically track certain basic information about our users (such as internet protocol (IP), addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, click patterns, etc). We use this information to do internal research on our members’ usage patterns, demographics, interests, and general behavior to better understand and serve you and our audience.
Use of Cookies
