Placing the pegs behind the reinforcement bars (closer to the rider) will be too close for most people. So that leaves placing the pegs in front of the reinforcement bars (further from the rider), right before the bend. The challenge is the bars are slightly oblong right before the bend.
In order bring the two sides of the highway peg clamp together over the oblong section of the bar simply use a longer M6 that is 20 mm long (the pegs come with 14mm long fasteners). The longer bolt allows for the two clamp sides to securely connect over the oblong bar. You can source the longer 20mm long M6 fasteners from most any hardware store, or if you’d like AltRider to include them with your order of highway pegs, just let us know.
Alternatively, the highway pegs can be mounted to the 1 inch upper bars - shown below.

The best thing to do is to sit on the bike and mock up were you legs feel the most comfortable.
