The R-IDES of MARCH VIII – a charity ride I have put together for 8 years now (I think) placed as close to the 15th of March (the “ides” ) as possible. All proceeds are sent to Riders for Health.
For information on why donating to Riders for Health is a good idea, please visit www.riders.org. Riders for Health is supported by motorcyclists all over the world, and - due to the backgrounds and friendships of its founders – also by Formula 1, Moto GP, and SBK Superbike teams.
Entry fee is a recommended donation of $10 (more welcome1) to Riders for Health, and your donation is tax deductible.
Following registration, you’ll be given a set of route directions that are more specific than what I usually provide, and be off on an adventure for a few hours that will hopefully send you down a road or two you never knew existed.
Along the way you will be asked to pause here and there to answer questions. At the end, you hand in your answer sheet, order some fine food, and await the prize giving.
I am hoping you will receive extra encouragement from Troy Corser, multi-time SBK Superbike World Champion, BMW S1000RR rider, and Riders for Health supporter. He has this to say.
“Fellow Riders for Health enthusiasts, I wish you the best as you undertake the challenge of R-Ides of March VIII. I will be riding with you in spirit!’
Troy Corser

Reverend Bill’s Tahuya Dampalooza! April 6-8
It’s Spring!
It’s been wet!
It’s time to practice/learn your off-pavement skills!
The first weekend in April, the Tahuya State Forest will be the perfect venue for an early season campout and training weekend.
We’ll camp two nights at Belfair State Park, (http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Belfair) and ride the gravel roads, dual-track and single track trails of Tahuya State Forest. Tahuya is known for some nice trail riding, mostly easy and moderate level trails, and soil/rocks that are manageable when wet. Unlike clay type soils that turn to mud when wet, Tahuya is known to be decent when soaked. We should expect lots of long wet puddles and water crossings. Multiple changes of socks are a must. This is more of an organized camp-out, rather than a led ride. We’ll figure out the riding when we get there. http://www.dnr.wa.gov/Publications/eng_tahuya_both.pdf http://www.dnr.wa.gov/AboutDNR/ManagedLands/Pages/amp_rec_tahuya_state_forest.aspx
Hopefully we’ll have a range of riders to guide, teach and lead on these trails. We’ll have a chance to spend some time on the pegs, get in a rhythm and stay relaxed.
Some of us will be headed down to Belfair State Park Friday morning, and it’s close enough to head down from Seattle Friday after work. Saturday night plan to kick in and help put together a seafood feast.
If you’re interested in joining us, let me know for space and portion planning. Bring some firewood, plenty of dry socks, and we’ll follow-up with Saturday night feast ideas.
You likely will need a Discover Pass to ride the Tahuya State Forest: http://www.discoverpass.wa.gov/

EVENT TYPE // Rally
WHERE // Sedalia, MO, United States
WHEN // Thu, Jul 19
|
|
DETAILS //
Jeremy, Brianna, Erik and Nancy are traveling to Sedalia, MO for the 40th BMW MOA Rally on July 19-22, 2012. This year is going to be a huge year with 11 BMW bike giveaways and tons more prizes for their Superstakes! If you plan on attending, come visit us at the AltRider booth located outside the main vendor pavilions and talk shop with us. We might even throw in a free installation with an AltRider purchase. We'll also have $150 dollars worth of AltRider gear for giveaways so you better not miss out!
What's special this year is that you'll also have the privilege to ride in a part of Missouri with a cozy hometown feel, rich history, and some of the friendliest folks you'll meet. You'll be riding through the scenes of the bank robberies of Jesse James, the powerful speeches and marked humility of Harry Truman, and inspiring perseverance of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The Rally will be held on the grounds of the historic Missouri State Fair, which has been dazzling crowds almost every August since 1901 (they took a few years off during WWII).
Come join us at the BMW MOA Rally!
